UN Special Advocate for Inclusive Finance
Website for Queen Máxima
Her Majesty Queen Máxima of the Netherlands is the United Nations Secretary-General's Special Advocate for Inclusive Finance for Development (UNSGSA). For the UNSGSA we built and implemented a modern, responsive website with an easy to use Content Management System.
Financial inclusion
Deliverables
- responsive website
- content management system
The UNSGSA (i.e. Queen Máxima) is trying to raise awareness of the consequences of having limited access to financial services, and tries to foster leadership towards financial inclusion. In their own words:
Today, 2.5 billion adults—more than a third of the world’s population—are excluded from the formal financial system. Financial exclusion is greatest among poor people and in emerging and developing countries, including the rural households that account for more than 70% of global poverty. This hampers people’s ability to earn, protect themselves in times of crisis, and to build for the future.
Goals
To support this mission/cause, we've created a mobile-friendly website that allows the UNSGSA’s office to effectively communicate their message to the intended target audience. The site documents all the UNSGSA’s activities, country visits, speeches, and publications.
Design
The homepage features a "motion graphic with parallax effects", which is a fancy way of saying that the homepage features an interactive movie-like graphic that runs when you scroll down the page. Talking about it doesn't really do it justice though,
Content Management System
The site's Content Management System manages the text, images, and documents on the site. The site contains about 100 speeches, many country visits, and around 300 pages in total.
Like in most of our sites, we used the “Concrete 5” Content Management System to allow the people in the UNSGSA’s office to edit the website. It allows almost anyone, without training, to quickly make changes to the site: Once you login, you just click the part of the page you want to edit and you can start typing right away. This makes it very easy to keep the site up to date. Adding images, videos, forms, and interactive content is similarly easy.
